CNPC Recognized as Low Carbon Model in China for the 10th time
2021/06/15

On June 11, the 12th Forum on "Low-carbon Development • Green Life" hosted by China Newsweek, China News Service, was held in Beijing. Focusing on the "carbon neutrality and carbon peak" targets, attendees at the forum discussed China's efforts and practices in green development. CNPC was recognized as "Low Carbon Model in China" for the 10th time by the forum, due to its outstanding contributions to green and low-carbon development and eco-environmental protection.

CNPC actively implements the concept of "Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets", and has taken solid steps on the path of green and low-carbon development. During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, while enhancing the exploration and production of natural gas and unconventional natural gas, the Company actively expanded import channels of pipeline natural gas (PNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) from abroad to form a diversified natural gas supply system. In 2020, the Company's natural gas production accounted for more than 50% of its total domestic oil and gas production for the first time, marking a significant progress in green and low-carbon transition.

CNPC took the lead in formulating the Methane Emission Control Action Plan and initiated the establishment of the China Oil and Gas Methane Alliance to deepen energy conservation, emission reduction and pollution control. As of 2020, 47 oil and gas production subsidiaries of the Company have been included in the list of the National Green Mines. We issued the OGCI-CEO Joint Open Letter with other OGCI member companies, reiterating the continued acceleration of carbon emission reduction actions, which won wide acclaim from the international community. Focusing on the "carbon neutrality and carbon peak" targets, we integrated "green and low-carbon" into our corporate development strategies for the first time, and deployed three steps of "clean alternative, strategic replacement and green development" to create a new landscape of green and low-carbon development driven by new ideas and new measures.
