Water Treatment Plant in Mekan Village

Mekan village is located in the most water-deficient central-south of Lebap, Turkmenistan. In order to help local people address the shortage of domestic water, CNPC invested approximately USD3.59 million in building a water treatment plant, which was put into operation in 2014. The plant was selected by the local government as a demonstration project under the Ten-year Program for Construction of the Residential Drinking Water System in Lebap. The plant delivers 1,500 cubic meters of quality domestic water to over 6,000 local residents per day, effectively improving drinking water safety for local residents.
